Montezuma Dems Doing Good
"How're you doing?" "Oh, I'm ------------." Our usual conversation starter has taken on new meaning these days. There are no simple answers anymore. Our feelings are complex and fluctuate from hour to hour. We're wondering how we're going to make it through these next four years. We're living with uncertainty. Some of us may be immobilized by the depth of our feelings. Those are the times to take a break and engage in some radical self-care.

Let's also experience the power of gathering with others, and of doing good. Our wisdom leaders are encouraging us to continue to do the work that has always been there to do, work we have always done. This is how we'll get through the years ahead: helping our neighbors, standing with the marginalized; living our values right here in Montezuma County. Doing good not only helps others, it helps us. It feels good to do good; it's a way to experience a little bit of joy and keeps us connected and grounded. The Montezuma Dems will be organizing a variety of community service events and activities in 2025 so please stay tuned.

Another way to feel good while doing good and making a difference is to serve on municipal, nonprofit, school, and special district boards, committees, and commissions. Now more than ever your talents are needed. Attend meetings, make public comment, apply for board positions. We're creating a digital resource that will include meeting times/dates, as well as opportunities to serve. We'll post a link to that here.
On this page you'll find a list of organizations that help people (and our public lands), and other organizations that are fighting on a broader scale. Support these with your time as volunteers and/or by donating.

Organizations That Will Give You Help and That Can Use Your Help
Under the next administration we expect funding cuts to organizations and agencies that help people, and we also expect that there will be more people needing help. The Montezuma County Democratic Party has compiled these resources and suggests that you volunteer and/or donate with these local organizations if you have time and/or money. And if you need help, reach out to them. Email me with additional resources you know of.
